We collect what we need to compare tariffs and process a switch you ask for, we never sell your data, and we never store your bank details — they go straight to your new supplier. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time.

What we collect and why
When you use our postcode-and-tariff comparison, we collect your postcode, address and meter identifiers (MPAN/MPRN) to fetch a quote from our energy-switching partner. If you choose to proceed, we also collect your name, email and phone number so we can follow up with you.
If you go on to submit a switch, we additionally collect your title and smart-meter status, and the bank details needed for the direct debit your new supplier will set up. We never store your bank details ourselves — they are passed on securely and immediately, and never written to our database.

04How long we keep it
How long we keep it
We aim to keep personal data no longer than necessary for the purpose it was collected for. Our target retention periods are:
- Quote lookups that don't go any further: 30 days
- Enquiries that don't result in a switch: 12 months from your last activity with us
- Completed switches: 6 years from completion, then anonymised
- Email content sent to you: 180 days

Your rights
You can ask us to let you see, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to stop using it, by emailing info@vertexutilitygroup.co.uk. We'll respond within one calendar month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your request, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
